Study Background
If you decide to participate, you will first complete a survey, download an app on your phone, and watch a short video that teaches you how to use the app.
The goal of this study is to describe social media activity that prompts teenagers to compare themselves to others. Additionally, we are examining associations between social media activity, social comparison, and mental health symptoms.
For two, 2-week periods (28 days total), you’ll be asked to complete 2 short surveys per day through the app. You will also be asked to take screenshots or screen recordings while using social media. You do not have to share any social media content you don’t want to share with us. If you are under 18, we’ll need to contact a parent/guardian to get their permission for you to participate, but we will NOT share any of your data with them.
