Study Background
Vaping is becoming more common among young adults, and scientists at USC are working to understand what leads people from vaping to cigarette smoking and how we can disrupt this pipeline.
In this study, all components of participation will be virtual and completed at home. Some participants will receive an online informational tool at the beginning of 8 weeks and some will receive it at the end of 8 weeks. Participants will complete 4 online surveys, and some participants will be asked to mail in saliva samples to the research team. Our team will study if vaping behaviors change over time.

Study Background

Additional Information
We want to learn more about reducing nicotine vaping and reducing the rates at which young adults who vape start smoking cigarettes.
You may qualify if you meet the following criteria:
- Between 18-24 years old
- Currently vape
- Never smoked cigarettes
You may not qualify if you are:
- Currently using resources to try to stop vaping
If enrolled in this study, you can expect:
- To complete 4 surveys over the course of 8 weeks
- Random assignment to a group that will either receive health information at the beginning or end of the 8-week study period
- Some participants will be asked to submit up to 3 saliva samples via mail
Participants will be compensated with:
- $25 Amazon gift card for completing each survey (up to $100 total)
- $20 Amazon gift card for completing each saliva test sent via mail (up to $60 total).
- Participants who complete each survey within 2 days of receiving them via email will receive a raffle ticket for various prizes (pair of AMC movie tickets, $50 Amazon gift card, and $100 Amazon gift card).
There is no cost to participate in this study.
