Help Uncover How Technology Impacts Youth Well-Being

We’ve all heard the buzz about device use and social media impacting our kids’ wellness and mental health. Despite the research and news reports, experts are still figuring out if this digital world is helpful, harmful, or both. That’s why we’re launching a study to explore how kids’ digital habits, including social media and online games, tie into their mental wellness, physical activity, and sleep. Study Background

TECHWISE is studying how technology use impacts kids’ well-being, development, and daily life.

In today’s digital age, children and teens are constantly connected through social media, online gaming, and other digital platforms. While technology offers many benefits, concerns about its effects on mental health, sleep, stress, and social interactions continue to grow. Despite widespread discussions, there is still much to learn about how digital habits influence children’s overall well-being.

The TECHWISE study seeks to answer these critical questions by observing kids’ technology use and collecting data on their mood, activity, sleep, and family dynamics. Over three months, children ages 8-17 and their parents will participate in remote surveys and daily check-ins to provide valuable insights into the relationship between digital engagement and child development. By joining TECHWISE, families have the unique opportunity to contribute to important research that can help shape future recommendations for safe and healthy technology use.
