Are you struggling to think clearly? Feel like your mind is playing tricks on you? Maybe you feel isolated or disconnected. You might even have thoughts like, “I don’t want to be here anymore.”
If this sounds familiar to you, you could be a good fit for our research study. We’re evaluating the relationship between coping strategies, thoughts, and emotions. The study will involve research visits and 4-weeks of phone surveys. As part of this study, you will download an app on your phone that will prompt you 6 times per day to answer questions about emotions, thoughts, and coping strategies.

Additional Information
The goal of this study is to evaluate the relationship between coping strategies, thoughts, and emotions.
You may qualify for the study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Ages 12-25
- Recent confusion about what is real or imaginary, or feelings of suspicion or paranoia
- Having experiences that may not be real, such as hearing sounds or seeing things that may not be there
- Having thoughts of not wanting to be here, wanting to disappear, not exist, or be dead
- No heart disease, cardiac arrhythmia, or pacemaker
- Not currently taking medication for a heart condition or blood pressure
- Have regular access to a smartphone
- Can read and speak English
Participation lasts about 4 weeks. If you are eligible and choose to participate, you will complete a baseline visit that includes clinical interviews, surveys, and a heart rate monitoring stress task. For the next 28 days, you will complete 6 brief 1-2min surveys on your phone per day. At the end of the 28 days, you will complete a follow-up visit that includes clinical interviews and surveys.
Remote participation is available via Zoom.
As a participant, you will be compensated up to $200 for your participation.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
