Study Background

Help us understand how people of color cope with discrimination, stress, and substance use by participating in our remote research study.

Project ADAPT, led by researchers at the University of Southern California, is an innovative online research study aimed at understanding how people of color cope with discrimination and stress in their daily lives. This study seeks to explore the unique challenges faced by people of color and how these experiences influence their decisions regarding substance use, including alcohol, cannabis, cigarettes, and e-cigarettes. By gaining insight into these behaviors, the study aims to shed light on the relationship between social stressors and coping mechanisms.

Participants in Project ADAPT will engage in brief, real-time surveys on a mobile app during four 7-day survey periods spread across one year. The study design ensures that all responses remain confidential. Participants who complete all surveys are eligible to receive up to $400 as compensation for their time and effort. The findings from this research will contribute to a deeper understanding of how discrimination impacts substance use behaviors, providing valuable knowledge to inform public health initiatives and support systems.
