Study Background
Researchers at the University of North Carolina are conducting one-on-one interviews with young adults about their tobacco use.
The purpose of these interviews is to understand young adults’ experiences, perceptions, and knowledge related to tobacco use in North Carolina. Each interview will take about 45 minutes.
Participants will be asked questions about their history of tobacco use, preferred products and devices, knowledge and experiences of health effects, and experiences trying to stop using tobacco. Everything shared during the interview will remain confidential and will not be connected to the participant’s name.
The information shared during the interviews will be used to help communicate with young people about tobacco use. Help improve knowledge about young adult tobacco use in North Carolina by applying today!

Additional Information
These interviews are being conducted to understand how young adults in North Carolina think about tobacco use. We want to know about your experience, your opinions, and what you know about tobacco use. Results from these interviews will help develop better ways to communicate information about tobacco to young adults specifically.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Young adult 18+ years old
- Use tobacco products
- Live in North Carolina
If you are eligible and choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a one-time, 45-minute interview virtually via Microsoft Teams. If you consent, the interview will be recorded for transcription purposes only.
Upon completion of the interview, you will receive a one-time $25 gift card via email.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
