Study Background
The New York State Psychiatric Institute is looking for individuals to participate in a clinical research study on unusual thoughts, experiences, and ideas. The purpose of this study is to better understand unusual thoughts, experiences, and ideas.
This study includes an initial screening visit with questionnaires, medical and psychiatric interviews, blood tests, a physical exam, urine sampling, and an EKG. The second visit includes questionnaires and a 30-minute MRI scan. The third visit includes 2 PET scans and one dose of methylphenidate. After the PET scans, participants will stay overnight in our inpatient psychiatric research unit and will be discharged the next day. After the PET scans, participants will be asked to participate in short questionnaires every 3 months for up to two years. These can be conducted virtually.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Key Criteria:
- Have unusual thoughts, experiences, or ideas OR Have a first degree family member with psychosis (parent, sibling, or child)
- Able to commute to the study site at the New York State Psychiatric Institute
- 18-30 years old
Once enrolled, this study involves:
- An initial screening visit with questionnaires, medical and psychiatric interviews, blood tests, a physical exam, urine sampling, and an EKG
