Study Background
UCLA is partnering with individuals who drink alcohol to test the relationship between the gut microbiome and the brain.
The purpose of this study is to characterize the gut microbiome in people who drink alcohol compared to people who don’t drink alcohol. Furthermore, we seek to test the relationship between gut microbiota and the brain for people who drink alcohol. To do this work, we collect fecal samples, blood samples, and questionnaire data. We also collect functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data to understand and investigate the brain.
