Research Study

Researchers at The Ohio State University and the University of Southern California are conducting a research study to learn more about people’s daily health, wellness, and everyday experiences. This study aims to better understand how daily routines, behaviors, and wellbeing change over time using brief surveys and wearable technology.

Additional Information

This study is designed to help researchers better understand everyday health, wellness, and personal experiences over time. Information collected may help improve future research on daily wellbeing and health behaviors.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Generally healthy adults
  • No cognitive or physical conditions that would interfere with study participation
  • Able to attend 2 in-person visits at Columbus Public Library locations
  • Physically able to do chores, go up and down stairs, walk for at least 15 minutes, run errands, and shop
  • Physically able to read text on a smartphone and hear when it rings
  • Read and speak English
  • Live in Ohio
  • Ages 18+
  • Interested in tracking health and wellness

If you choose to participate, you will:

  1. Attend an in-person baseline visit at your study site
    • Complete questionnaires about your background, health, and wellbeing
    • Receive training on study procedures
    • Receive a study smartphone and smartwatch
  2. Complete a two-week at-home study period
    • Wear the study smartwatch continuously
    • Complete brief smartphone surveys several times each day about your daily experiences and wellbeing
  3. Attend a final in-person visit
    • Return the study devices
    • Complete a follow-up survey
    • Participate in a brief debriefing session

Participation lasts approximately two weeks total.

Participants may receive up to $200 for completing study activities.

For Ohio State University participants, study visits will take place at Columbus Public Library locations with free parking available. Travel reimbursement is not provided.
