Children develop differently, and we need to measure how children in specific age ranges respond to medications and different dosages to evaluate the effectiveness of new treatment options.

Studies for children have extra safety measures in place and are overseen by a qualified physician. Every study is designed differently so you are provided with a consent form that includes full transparency of the history of the drug, the purpose of the study, the procedures required, plus everything that’s important to weigh in your decision to participate.

If you and your child are interested in participating, the study team will first review the eligibility requirements and answer your questions.

If your child qualifies and you choose to enroll, participation may include:

  • A screening visit to determine eligibility.
  • Regular study visits with the research team throughout the study.
  • Physical exams, vital sign measurements, and laboratory tests.
  • Monitoring of your child’s health, weight, and overall well-being.
  • Study medication or placebo, as assigned by the study protocol.
  • Ongoing support from the study team and follow-up visits as outlined in the study schedule.

Participation is voluntary, and you may choose to withdraw from the study at any time.

Children who have the maturity to comprehend the information may be asked to sign an assent form that outlines the details of the study, but both parents or a legal guardian must also sign an official study consent form on behalf of their child.

Qualified participants may receive compensation for their time and study-related travel. The study team can provide additional details about reimbursement, compensation, and any available transportation assistance during the screening process.

There is no cost for your family to participate in our research study.
