Researchers want to learn more about how early motor abilities are connected to physical activity and healthy growth in young children with Down Syndrome. This information may help identify the skills that are most important for supporting healthy development over time.

Your family may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

• Ages 18 to 47 months
• Diagnosed with Down Syndrome
• Willing to try wearing an activity watch at home
• Parent or guardian completes questionnaires or wears an activity watch
• Child is at least 1.5 years old but has not yet turned 4 years old

If your family chooses to participate, you and your child will:

1. Complete two study visits each year for three years (six visits total). Each visit lasts about 90–120 minutes.
2. During each visit, your child will complete fun, play-based activities with a member of the research team. Activities may include playing with toys, answering simple questions, pointing, throwing a ball or bean bags, jumping, memory games, and other movement-based tasks.
3. Your child will be asked to try wearing a physical activity watch at home to measure movement and rest, and a research team member will measure your child’s height, weight, and waist circumference.
4. While your child completes the activities, you will fill out questionnaires about your child’s development. You may also choose to wear a physical activity watch and may optionally provide your height, weight, and waist circumference.
5. Study visits can take place at Colorado State University, another study site near you, or in your home, depending on your location and preference.
6. Before enrollment, the research team will conduct a brief phone screening to confirm eligibility.

You and your child will receive $50 for each completed study visit, for a total of $100 per year. Families who complete all three years of the study may receive up to $300 in total compensation.

Study visits can be completed at a nearby study site or in your home when available, helping reduce travel demands for participating families. Parents may also request a summary of their child’s assessment results after participating.
