Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina are conducting a study for 13–17 year olds who are experiencing symptoms related to a stressful or traumatic event, and who have used substances in the past 2 months. This could include things like alcohol, marijuana/weed, prescription pills or medications that were not prescribed to them, or other drugs. Additional Information
The goal of this study is to compare two evidence-based treatments (Person-Centered Therapy or COPE-A) for teens who experience symptoms related to a stressful or traumatic experience and who also use substances. Eventually, the data from this research will help improve treatments for future teens in similar situations.
The treatments being investigated are talk therapies. There is no medication involved in this study.
