Study Background
We’re recruiting adults ages 50 and older to examine how anxiety and worry contribute to aspects of aging, including brain and body aging, as well as risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
In order to see how factors change over time in participants, we meet with them at the start of the study for baseline assessments and then again two years later for follow-up. This will include a clinical interview, cognitive testing, and an MRI scan (with no radiation and no contrast).
Your participation in this study may help researchers identify the most effective intervention and prevention targets for anxious older adults. Advance research today and join our compensated study!

Screening: First, you will be asked to complete a screening visit, which can be completed remotely over HIPAA-compliant Zoom or in person at our offices in the Oxford Building. The screening visit consists of interviews to evaluate your medical history and psychological symptoms and is expected to last approximately 2 hours.
Study Procedures: Participants who are found to be eligible after the screening visit would come in for their baseline visit, during which time they would complete additional assessments including cognitive testing, up to a 2 hour fMRI scan with the option of a break in the middle and/or option to only complete half the scan, blood and hair sampling, and an optional ultrasound of the neck. These procedures can be broken up into two separate visits. At your first in-person visit you will be asked to complete a urine drug screen.
Follow-up: Two years later, there is a follow-up visit that includes the same procedures as the initial baseline visit. These procedures can also take place over two days.
