Study Background

The Ohio State University aims to further our understanding of emotions, health, and safety practices for service members.

We are conducting two studies:

Project 1: Assessment of Emotional Regulation Strategies

The goal of this study is to identify which strategies are most useful for reducing emotional distress among military personnel. This study involves a virtual 2-hour baseline assessment, 28 days of daily mobile-based surveys, and follow-up contacts through phone or video-conferencing software and follow-up assessments completed on your own at 1, 3,  6, 9, and 12 months.

Project 2: Fear of Uncertainty-Focused Intervention

The goal of this study is to identify which strategies are most useful for increasing health and home safety practices among military personnel who report moderate to high levels of distress when experiencing uncertainty. The study involves a virtual 1.5-hour baseline assessment, two virtual intervention sessions (1 hour each), 14 days of daily mobile-based surveys after each intervention (28 days total), and follow-up assessments completed on your own at 1, 3,  6, 9, and 12 months.
