Pregnancy & Tobacco Research Study
Researchers at the University of Minnesota are conducting a study in women who have quit smoking or would like to quit smoking and remain smoke-free postpartum.
Fast Facts
Currently Pregnant or Less Than 2 Years Postpartum
Current Smoker or Former Smoker
Compensation Provided
Conducted Remotely
Study Background
Can bupropion help people quit smoking or remain smoke-free after pregnancy?
Quitting smoking is hard, especially amid the stress of postpartum life. Most women who quit smoking during pregnancy relapse within 1 year after delivery. However, we know from previous research that smoking by the mother is harmful for babies and children, even after birth.
In this study, we are testing the effect of bupropion, an FDA-approved medication, in helping women quit smoking or remain tobacco-free after delivery. If you are a current or former smoker, and you are pregnant or within 2 years after delivery, you could be eligible to participate.
Eventually, the findings of this study might be useful for helping people quit smoking and protecting the health of pregnant people and their children. See if you qualify today!
