Study Background

This study aims to explore how social support and LGBTQ2S+ identity impact smoking cessation efforts.

This study is focused on understanding the experiences of LGBTQ2S+ individuals who are attempting to quit smoking. Research suggests that members of the LGBTQ2S+ community may face unique challenges, such as discrimination, microaggressions, and a lack of social support, which can affect their attempts to quit smoking. The goal of this research is to identify which factors—like social support or having a positive self-identity—are most significant in helping LGBTQ2S+ individuals successfully quit smoking.

By participating, we hope to gather insights that will guide the development of more effective smoking cessation programs tailored to the specific needs of LGBTQ2S+ individuals. This research could ultimately help future smokers in this community by identifying what works best for them during the quitting process.
