Conducted Remotely
Study Background
This study will help researchers better understand how people use cigarettes and e-cigarettes over time.
The DUET Study follows adults who smoke cigarettes, use e-cigarettes, or use both. The goal is to track natural use patterns over the course of one year. This is not a treatment study. You do not need to change your smoking or vaping habits in order to participate. All activities are remote and can be completed from home.
By gathering information through short monthly surveys, brief daily diaries, and quick breath samples, researchers aim to learn how patterns of use develop and change within individuals. Understanding these behaviors will help guide future clinical and regulatory decisions about tobacco and nicotine products.

The study is being done to understand the natural course of cigarette use, e-cigarette use, and dual use over one year. Researchers want to learn which patterns of use are linked with later quitting of combustible cigarettes.
