Study Background
Researchers at NYU Langone Health are conducting a study with Hispanic adult men to understand their perspectives on genetic testing for prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer and decisions about genetic testing can be complex, and patients’ perspectives are important to understanding how genetic information is used. This study focuses on Hispanic adult men with prostate cancer to learn more about their thoughts, experiences, and attitudes toward genetic testing. We aim to explore how patients perceive genetic information, how it influences their healthcare decisions, and what barriers or concerns they may have.
The goal of this research is to improve understanding of patient perspectives so that healthcare providers can better communicate genetic information and support informed decision-making. Eventually, the findings of this study may help make genetic testing more accessible, improve patient-provider communication, and enhance overall care and quality of life for men with prostate cancer.

Additional Information
In this research study, we are trying to understand how Hispanic men with prostate cancer think about and make decisions regarding genetic testing. We aim to better understand patients’ knowledge, attitudes, and experiences with genetic information and how it influences healthcare decisions. Genetic testing decisions can be affected by personal experiences, cultural beliefs, and access to information, and we will explore all of these factors. We also want to identify potential barriers and concerns patients may have when considering genetic testing. To do this, we are using questionnaires and virtual interviews to gather detailed perspectives, which will help guide how genetic information is communicated and used in prostate cancer care.
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
- Hispanic adult men, age 18 or older
- Diagnosed with prostate cancer
- Live in the United States
The entire study lasts a short period, and participation is completed remotely. Once enrolled, the study involves:
Online: You will complete an online questionnaire about your experiences, knowledge, and attitudes regarding genetic testing for prostate cancer.
Virtual Interview: You will participate in a 40-minute virtual interview via WebEx or Zoom. During the interview, we will ask about your perspectives on genetic information, how you make decisions about genetic testing, and any barriers or concerns you may have. The interview will be audio and video recorded to ensure accuracy.
As a participant, you may receive up to $40.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
