Additional Information
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Smoke cigarettes regularly
- Use cannabis regularly
- Interested in quitting or reducing cannabis & tobacco use
- Veteran
- 18+ years old
- Body weight >110 lbs and BMI between 18-35
- If able to become pregnant, willing to use birth control during the study
Exclusion Criteria:
- Pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant
- Severe renal impairment
- Lifetime history of Bipolar I or II Disorder, Schizophrenia, or other psychotic disorder
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviors in the past 6 months
- Other substance use disorders (besides tobacco or cannabis) in the past 60 days
- Significant medical disorders, cardiovascular disease, or cerebrovascular disease in the past 6 months
If eligible, this 12-week study involves:
- Screening visit
- Randomization into one of two study groups
- Receiving Chantix (varenicline)
- Study visits once a week for 12 weeks
- One follow-up visit post-treatment
