Study Background

Researchers at Butler Health System are looking for young healthy adults to participate in a clinical research study to investigate new and improved individualized neurocircuit-based treatments.

The study involves a phone screen, to determine preliminary eligibility and a complete a baseline clinical assessment. In addition all participants will be scheduled for a baseline MRI scan within one week of the baseline assessment. Participants will be involved in the study for 2-8 weeks.

Researchers at Butler Hospital are investigating impulse-control neuropathways to help develop new and improved individualized neurocircuit-based treatments.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Key Criteria:

  • 18-25 years old
  • Willing and able to undergo an MRI scanĀ 
  • No history of serious medical conditions (ex. epilepsy/seizures, traumatic brain injury, stroke, history of any known intracranial pathology)
  • Ability to travel to Butler Hospital & Brown University
  • No current substance abuse
  • No history of psychosis

Once enrolled, and depending on group assignment, this study involves:

  • Completing a phone screen, to determine preliminary eligibility
  • Completing a baseline clinical assessment
  • Completing up to two MRI scans
  • Daily 45 min in-person visits for 2 weeks
  • 2 weeks of tDCS Stimulation
  • The duration of participation in the study is 2-8 weeks

Compensation is provided up to $300 for your time upon study completion.
