Study Background

Yale University is looking for generally healthy cigarette smokers to participate in a clinical research study. The purpose of this study is to measure synaptic density in the brain comparing individuals with cocaine use disorder to healthy controls.

Participation includes in-person screening, 1 PET scan, 1 MRI scan, and several neurocognitive tasks and surveys. The results obtained from this study will contribute to the knowledge of the medical and scientific communities.

Your participation in this research study may help researchers understand abnormalities in brain function in cocaine use disorders and in turn, give us better ideas of how we might treat people with these addictions in the future. Further research today and join our compensated study!

The purpose of this study is to measure synaptic density in the brain comparing individuals with cocaine use disorder to healthy control participants. Your participation in this research study may help researchers understand abnormalities in brain function in cocaine use disorders and in turn, give us better ideas of how we might treat people with these addictions in the future.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Key Criteria:

  • Medically Healthy
  • 35-60 years old
  • Smokes Cigarettes
  • No substance use disorders (other than nicotine) and no diagnosis of major psychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, etc.)

Once enrolled, this clinical research study involves:

  • In-person screening;
  • 1 PET scan;
  • 1 MRI scan;
  • several neurocognitive tasks and surveys.

Compensation is provided up to $750 for your time.
