Study Background

Researchers at NYU Langone Health and the Nathan Kline Institute are looking for biological sibling pairs, one sibling with OCD and one without OCD that is generally healthy. The purpose of this clinical research study is to investigate brain functioning in individuals with OCD and their unaffected biological siblings.

The study includes a brief phone screening; one virtual screening visit (2-6 hours) answering questions about your health and emotions; and 1 in-person visit (2-4 hours), and an fMRI brain scan while performing computer tasks.

Additional Information

The purpose of this clinical research study is to investigate brain functioning in individuals with OCD and their unaffected biological siblings.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Key Criteria:

  • One sibling with OCD and one without OCD that is generally healthy;
  • 18-60 years old;
  • Located in NYC area;
  • No history of psychosis, bipolar, or major developmental disorders;
  • No current alcohol or substance use disorder;
  • Not pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
  • Eligible for an MRI

Once enrolled, this study involves:

  • Brief phone screening
  • One virtual screening visit (2-6 hours): answering questions about your health and emotions
  • 1 in-person visit (2-4 hours): an fMRI brain scan while performing computer tasks

Compensation is provided up to $250 for your time.
