Study Background

The UVA Center for Leading Edge Addiction Research or CLEAR clinic is seeking men and women ages 18 and older to participate in a research study to determine the safety, efficacy, and tolerability of low-intensity focused ultrasound on the brain of individuals with a diagnosis of cocaine use disorder. This confidential study is for individuals who use cocaine.

The trial involves 5 in-person visits and 2 follow-up phone calls over a 10-week period. All study-related exams and tests are given at no cost. Compensation for visit completion will be provided.

Additional Information

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of new treatment options for individuals with cocaine user disorder.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Key Criteria:

  • 18+ years old
  • Current cocaine use disorder
  • Willing and able to undergo MRI

Once enrolled, this 10-week study involves:

  • 5 in-person visits including medical screening visit which can take up to (4) hours to complete
  • (2) follow-up phone calls

Compensation is provided up to $800 for your time.

There is no fee for you to participate in this study. Transportation may be available if needed.
