This event is designed to promote education, transparency, and meaningful conversation while creating space for diverse voices and communities that have historically been underrepresented in fertility research.

Moderator
Prof. Jasmine Abrams

Dr. Jasmine Abrams is an international behavioral research scientist and Presidential Research Fellow at the Yale School of Public Health. She has more than 15 years of experience conducting health equity research focused on sexual and maternal health among Black women across the African Diaspora. Her work has been supported by federal agencies including the NIH and Fogarty International Center. Dr. Abrams is also an engaging speaker, serial entrepreneur, and advocate for advancing health equity, academic success, and researcher well-being.

Prof. Lauren Wise

Dr. Lauren Wise joined the Department of Epidemiology at Boston University in 2004 after completing her doctorate at the Harvard School of Public Health. Her research focuses on reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, including fertility, delayed conception, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and benign gynecologic conditions. She is the Principal Investigator of the Boston University Pregnancy Study Online (PRESTO), a web-based prospective cohort study examining factors related to time-to-pregnancy and birth outcomes. Her work also includes research on the environmental and genetic determinants of uterine fibroids, particularly among African-American women.

Alice Domar, PhD

Dr. Alice D. Domar, PhD, is a pioneer in mind/body medicine and a leading expert in the psychological aspects of infertility. She is Chief Compassion Officer at Inception Fertility, the Director of the Inception Research Institute, and an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, part-time. Her research focuses on stress, infertility, and women’s health. She is also a best-selling author and internationally recognized speaker on infertility, women’s health, and mind/body medicine.

Alexandra Sundermann, MD, PhD

Dr. Alexandra Sundermann, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a member of the Vanderbilt Epidemiology Center. She completed her medical and doctoral training at Vanderbilt and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center. Her research focuses on reproductive and perinatal epidemiology, with an emphasis on pregnancy, time-to-pregnancy, and advancing reproductive health through clinically relevant research.

Tanika Gray Valbrun

Tanika Gray Valbrun is an award-winning journalist, educator, and women’s health advocate who founded The White Dress Project, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and supporting women affected by uterine fibroids. She is also a member of the PRESTO Community Advisory Board. Following her own experience with fibroids and infertility, she became a passionate advocate for patient education and health advocacy. She has worked with physicians, advocates, and policymakers to advance fibroid awareness and helped establish July as Fibroids Awareness Month. She is also a Senior Content Producer for a global news organization and a three-time Peabody Award recipient.
