Study Background
California State University, Dominguez Hills is looking for individuals to participate in a research study on pregnancy. The purpose of the Tracking your Life In Pregnancy (TULIP) study is to understand how daily positive emotions (like joy, gratitude) and social support affect mental health and stress in the body during pregnancy.
The study includes an initial visit at our study office at CSUDH (Carson, CA), followed by 8-days of answering daily surveys about emotions and daily life experiences using a smartphone app. During this time, participants will wear a wristband device (similar to a ‘smart watch’) that monitors heart rate and physiology.

The purpose of the Tracking your Life In Pregnancy (TULIP) study is to understand how daily positive emotions (like joy, gratitude) and social support affect mental health and stress in the body during pregnancy.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Key Criteria:
- Less than 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy pregnancy
- 18-34 years of age with a personal smartphone
- Can read and understand English
- First-time parent
Once enrolled, this study involves:
An initial visit at our study office at CSUDH (Carson, CA).
8 days of answering surveys about emotions and daily life experiences using a smartphone app. During this time, participants will wear a wristband device (similar to a ‘smart watch’) that monitors heart rate and physiology.
Participants will then return to our office at CSUDH to return the wristband device and answer some questions about their experience.
