Study Background

LGBTQ+ and POC researchers from the Lavender Lab at the University of Maryland are conducting a research study to understand the negative impact of racism and anti-LGBTQ+ stressful experiences (e.g. discrimination, bullying) on the mental health and substance use of LGBTQ teens who identify as racial/ethnic minorities or people of color.

Findings from this online confidential survey will be used to inform developing affirming and resilience interventions for LGBTQ+ youth of color’s mental health and wellbeing.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Take a quick 5-minute survey to see if you’re eligible (that just means they want to make sure you’re a good fit for the study).
  2. If you’re a good fit, you’ll get to do a 35-45 minute online survey from the comfort of your own space, and you’ll even get a $15 gift card as a thank you.
  3. Based on your responses to this survey,  you might be invited to join a 2.5-year-long study where you can continue to make a difference. The 2.5 year study involves taking similar online surveys and you’ll be paid up to $360 in gift cards.
