Study Background

Researchers at Rhode Island Hospital are conducting a program meant to help people take their HIV medicine every day.

There are 6 total study visits. During study visits participants will be asked to complete surveys and will be interviewed by study staff. All participants will receive a one-on-one session with an adherence coach that is meant to help people take their medication every day. Participants will be asked to keep their HIV medication in an electronic pill bottle throughout the duration of the study. Data from the pill bottle will be read at each study visit. In addition, participants will be asked to complete blood work during the baseline, 6-month follow-up, and 12-month follow-up visits.

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate a program meant to help people take their HIV medication every day.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Key Criteria:

  • Ages 18+
  • HIV positive
  • Taking daily oral dose of HIV medication
  • Able to access medical records
  • Speak English

Once enrolled, this study involves:

  • There are 6 total study visits.

  • During study visits participants will be asked to complete surveys and will be interviewed by study staff.

  • Participants will be asked to keep their HIV medication in an electronic pill bottle throughout the duration of the study.

    • Data from the pill bottle will be read at each study visit.

    • In addition, participants will be asked to complete blood work during the baseline, 6-month follow-up, and 12-month follow-up visits.
