Study Background
Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a complex disorder that can have a number of different factors, such as pelvic floor muscle tenderness, painful bladder syndrome or interstitial cystitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and depression. In turn, CPP itself can have negative effects on women’s mental and emotional well-being, relationships, and activities of daily living. Since its causes and effects are so complex, we want to study CPP from a biopsychosocial perspective: biological, psychological, and social.
This research study will evaluate women with and without chronic pelvic pain (CPP) from a biopsychosocial perspective. Participants will answer psychosocial-based questionnaires, complete daily symptom assessments for one month/menstrual cycle, and self-collect saliva two times for ovarian hormone analysis and vaginal swabs two times for microbiome analysis.
If you have CPP or a condition that may contribute to CPP, you may be eligible.
Your participation in this observational study may help researchers improve treatment approaches for CPP. Advance research today and join our compensated study from your home!
