Study Background
Researchers at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center are investigating how dual-smoker couples’ smoking attitudes and behavior changes over time, and how it influences and is influenced by their relationship.
In this study, we will seek to understand your smoking habits, your reasons for wanting or not wanting to quit, your relationship satisfaction, and more.
The study consists of 5 research sessions held virtually via Zoom. Participants will complete questionnaires regarding themselves, their relationships, and their smoking habits. The carbon monoxide breath test will measure participants current carbon monoxide levels and involves them holding their breath for 15 seconds and exhaling into a handheld machine. The saliva test will measure their cotinine (a chemical byproduct of smoking tobacco product) levels.
