Remote Infant Immunity Research Study

Researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center want to better understand how immunity is passed from mother to baby from infection or vaccination during pregnancy. Find out if our paid study could be right for you & your baby!

Fast Facts

Pregnant or have an infant under 13 months old

Received a vaccine during pregnancy, had an infection during pregnancy, and/or planning to vaccinate baby

Compensation

Provided Up To $150

Conducted Remotely

Study Background

Babies have immature immune systems and rely on immunity from their mothers, transferred through the placenta or breast milk. Primary vaccination does not start until the baby is at least 6 weeks old, so new infants are protected only by their mother’s immunity. We want to learn more about how this immunity is transferred in order to create better guidelines for vaccination during pregnancy and infancy.

The purpose of this study is to better understand how long immune protection transferred through the placenta from mother to baby lasts when the pregnant mother received a vaccine or had an infection during pregnancy. As part of the study, you will be asked to collect your baby’s capillary blood sample at home using a collection device.
