Study Background

Researchers are conducting a study to better understand the emotional experiences of people who have recently reduced their drinking.

Through this research study, we want to learn more about how changes in emotion may affect cravings and drinking. We want to better understand these experiences to better support individuals who are trying to reduce or stop drinking.

If you are in recovery for alcohol use disorder or have recently reduced drinking (with or without professional help), we invite you to participate!

Additional Information

The purpose of this research study is to better understand the emotional experiences of people who have recently reduced their drinking.

You may qualify for a study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Ages 18-68
  • In recovery from alcohol use disorder or have recently reduced your drinking
  • Do not use other substances (with the exception of nicotine or marijuana)

The entire study will last approximately one month and will include one in-person visit which will last about 1 hour. 

After the in-person visit, short surveys will be sent to participants’ phones 3 times per day. These should take less than 2 minutes to complete, and there are no wrong answers.

As a participant, you can receive up to $184 for completing all study tasks.
