Additional Information

Doctors recommend that adults begin screening for colon cancer around age 45. Regular screenings increase the chances of catching cancer early when it is easier to treat. However, the rates of colon cancer screenings for American Indians in Oklahoma are much lower than the general population. With this research study, we are working towards developing educational materials to help improve the rates of colon cancer screenings among American Indians.

You may qualify for a study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 45-75 years old
  • Identify as American Indian or have a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)
  • Live in Oklahoma
  • Speak English
  • Not up to date with colon cancer screening (e.g., colonoscopy, FIT, Cologuard)

Your participation is completely virtual. If interested and eligible, you will fill out a consent form online, engage with an online educational material (a brief video or interaction with a virtual provider), and complete surveys before and afterward.

Eligible participants will be compensated $50 for their time and effort.

There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
