Study Background

Researchers at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center are conducting a study on pain and discomfort in people with Alzheimer’s.

Problems with memory and thinking may be related to a greater risk of pain and discomfort. Participation consists of one weekly phone call for six weeks and an optional in-person testing session where we will use small devices to provide heat or pressure to your palm and ask you to tell us how strong and unpleasant the pain feels.

By examining pain processing in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and cancer, our team hopes to inform future pain assessment, treatment, and care for Alzheimer’s patients.
