Research Background
Help us learn more about PTSD treatment options.
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas at Austin is conducting multiple research studies on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These studies aim to explore the brain mechanisms involved in PTSD, as well as potential treatment options. By using both treatment-based and laboratory-based methods, the research seeks to gain a deeper and more complete understanding of the disorder. Some studies focus on therapy approaches, while others use techniques like MRI to observe brain activity in participants.
The main objective of this research is to identify changes in brain circuits that may be linked to PTSD. By understanding these changes, researchers can work toward developing more effective treatments for the disorder. Combining findings from clinical trials and laboratory research, the studies aim to fill knowledge gaps and improve treatment strategies for those living with PTSD.

Additional Information
This research is being done to understand how PTSD affects the brain and to find more effective treatments for the disorder. Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin are investigating both therapeutic approaches and brain activity using MRI scans to uncover the underlying mechanisms of PTSD and improve treatment options for those affected.

If you sign up, you will be contacted by a researcher with more information about specific studies you may be eligible for. You may be contacted about more than one study.
If you participate in one of our studies, here’s what you can expect:
Phone Screen: You will start with a brief phone call where you’ll receive an overview of the study and provide some basic information to determine if you might be eligible.
Virtual Appointment: If you qualify, you’ll have a virtual appointment to share more detailed clinical and demographic information.
Scheduling Sessions: After the virtual appointment, treatment or laboratory sessions will be scheduled based on your eligibility and the study requirements.
As a participant, you will be compensated for your time and effort.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research studies.
