Study Background

Help us learn more about factors that influence heavy alcohol consumption.

This study aims to understand how factors like mood, stress, cravings, and the environment affect heavy drinking. Participants will be involved for one month, with three online and three in-person visits at a San Francisco research office. During the study, they will answer daily phone surveys about their drinking, sexual behavior, and mood. They will also wear a wristwatch-like device that tracks alcohol levels through sweat. Those who complete the study will receive $190.

The study has three main goals: to identify what triggers binge drinking, explore links between binge drinking and risky sexual behavior, and see how well the surveys and alcohol monitor work in research.
