Healthy Brains after Cardiac Arrest (HB-CA)
Researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital are conducting a study to develop a group lifestyle intervention for cardiac arrest survivors who have experienced cognitive changes and their caregivers.

Cardiac Arrest Survivors & Caregivers

Experienced Cognitive Changes After the Event

Conducted Remotely
Study Background
We are developing a program for cardiac arrest survivors and their caregivers to help them cope with the challenges associated with cognitive symptoms after cardiac arrest.
As a first step, we are conducting focus groups and interviews with survivors and their caregivers to 1) gather their perspectives on what we should include in the program, and 2) gather their feedback on preliminary program content. Participation includes a 45-minute focus group or 20-30-minute interview conducted virtually through Zoom. You will be in the study for one day (the duration of the focus group or interview). If interested, we may offer participation in a future open pilot.
Eventually, we hope that the program we are developing will help survivors and caregivers better cope with the challenges of life after cardiac arrest. If you are a cardiac arrest survivor who has noticed cognitive changes after the event, you could be a good fit for this study. If you qualify and are interested, we may offer participation in a pilot version of the program.

Additional Information
We are hoping to develop a program to help survivors and caregivers cope with the challenges associated with cognitive symptoms after cardiac arrest. The goal of these focus groups and interviews is to find out what people think about the program so far and what they would want to include in future versions of the program.
You and a caregiver may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Cardiac arrest survivor who has experienced cognitive changes after event
- Either survivor or caregiver experiences emotional distress after event
- Survivor and informal caregiver (e.g., family member, friend) are able to participate in the study together
Your participation in the study will last one day and consist of either a 45-minute focus group or a 20-30-minute interview conducted virtually through Zoom.
Participants who qualify and are interested may be offered participation in a pilot support program.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
