North Carolina Cancer Caregiver Needs Assessment
Cancer caregivers play a vital role in supporting patients through their journey, often providing unpaid care that can be both physically and emotionally demanding. Understanding the unique challenges and needs of caregivers in different regions is crucial to ensuring they receive the right support. This study aims to explore the experiences of cancer caregivers in North Carolina, particularly those within the area served by East Carolina University Health. By gathering insights, researchers hope to identify and address specific needs to improve the quality of care and support available.
Participants in this study will be asked to take part in a brief phone screening and complete an online questionnaire using a secure platform called REDCap. This process will take about 5-10 minutes of their time. By comparing the needs of caregivers in the East Carolina University Health area with those in other parts of the state, the study seeks to uncover regional differences and highlight areas where additional resources or services may be needed.

By identifying these needs, researchers hope to find ways to provide better support and resources for caregivers.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Have provided unpaid care for a patient diagnosed with cancer
- No prior history of cancer
- Live in North Carolina
- Ages 18+
If you participate in this study, here’s what you can expect:
Phone Screening: You will complete a brief phone screening to confirm your eligibility for the study.
Online Questionnaire: If eligible, you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire.
Secure Platform: The questionnaire will be conducted using a secure web application called REDCap to ensure your information is protected.
Time Commitment: The total time you’ll need to volunteer for this study is approximately 5-10 minutes.
You will be compensated up to $5 for your participation in this study.
