Study Background

Researchers at UT Austin are studying differences in people’s responses to drinking alcohol and related changes in the brain in young adults.

This study looks at how people react to alcohol over time and how it affects the brain. Researchers will compare these effects between different people.

If you join the study, you will take part in a clinical interview, drink alcohol on 2 separate days, and complete MRI scanning. Because this is a longitudinal study, you may be asked to repeat study components.

The goal of this study is to better understand how alcohol affects people and to help treat future patients with mental health issues. This research may also help create better programs to prevent and treat problems caused by alcohol use.
