Study Background

Project eMOTION: An Observational Study

Adolescence is a difficult time for everyone. Physical changes, hormonal changes, and increasingly complex social situations can be a recipe for intense stress during this important developmental stage.

In this study, researchers are recruiting teen girls to look at the intersection of three factors: social experiences, mood, and eating behaviors. In particular, we want to find out whether social stressors drive negative moods that might lead to binge eating. If you are a 14-19 year old girl who experiences binge eating at least once a week, you could be a vital part of this important research. Apply now to participate from anywhere in the U.S.!

Additional Information

This study is being performed to better understand the relationships between social experiences, mood, and eating behaviors in teenagers. Specifically, we aim to understand whether social stressors lead to increases in negative mood that in turn predict engagement in binge eating. Studying these relationships will help to inform treatments for binge eating in adolescents.
