Research Study Background

This research study aims to better understand how aging impacts the experience and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in older adults.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, can become more complex to manage as people age. Older adults often experience additional health conditions, take multiple medications, and go through natural aging-related changes that may affect how their bodies respond to IBD treatments. Despite this, most IBD research has focused on younger populations, leaving important gaps in understanding how the disease affects older individuals over time.

The LOGIC Virtual research study is designed to address these gaps by collecting long-term health data from adults aged 60 and older with IBD. By participating, individuals contribute valuable information that may help researchers improve future care, treatment approaches, and quality of life for older adults living with IBD.

Additional Information

This research study is being conducted to better understand how IBD affects adults over 60 and how aging influences disease progression and treatment outcomes.

You may be eligible for this research study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, indeterminate colitis)
  • Currently taking medication to treat inflammatory bowel disease
