Researchers at Trialmed Tucson are studying a potential new treatment for adults with very high triglyceride levels. This study is exploring whether an investigational injection may help improve fat levels in the blood and support heart health.

Additional Information

This study is being conducted to learn if a new treatment can safely lower triglyceride levels and improve overall heart-related health markers.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Ages 18+
  • Very high triglyceride levels (≥500 mg/dL) confirmed on testing
  • BMI of 18.5-45 kg/m2

Exclusion Criteria:

  • Pancreatitis within the past year
  • History of recent major cardiovascular events (within 3 months) such as:
    1. Heart attack (myocardial infarction)
    2. Unstable angina
    3. Stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA)
    4. Coronary procedures, such as stent placement or bypass surgery
    5. Peripheral artery interventions

Overall Duration
The study lasts up to about 1 year, including screening, treatment, and follow-up.

In-Clinic Activities

  • You will start with a screening visit to see if you qualify. This may include blood tests and a review of your medical history.
  • If you join the study, you will visit the clinic about every 4 to 6 weeks, for a total of about 10 to 12 visits.
  • At each visit, staff will check your health, ask how you are feeling, and perform blood tests.
  • You will receive two injections under the skin at scheduled visits during the study.
  • You will be randomly assigned to receive either the study treatment or a placebo.
  • Your health information, such as lab results and symptoms, will be collected and reviewed by the study team.

At-Home Activities

  • You may be asked to follow simple instructions from the study team, such as keeping your medications stable and reporting any changes in your health.
  • You can contact the study team at any time if you have questions or notice any new symptoms.

You may receive/be compensated up to $1,550 if you participate. You will also receive study-related care at no cost, including health checkups and lab work. Transportation details can be discussed with the study team.
