Connecting Loved Ones to Support
and Empowering Recovery

Researchers at Rhode Island Hospital are conducting a study with individuals in recovery and their loved one. The purpose of this study is to help refine a supportive mobile app designed to provide education and support to loved ones of people in recovery. Researchers hope this work will improve access to support resources for loved ones who play an important role in the recovery process.

Additional Information

Loved ones can have a meaningful impact on recovery and overall well-being, but they are often left out of addiction treatment and recovery support services. This study aims to improve a digital support program that provides support and information to loved ones of individuals in recovery.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Adults in recovery or working toward recovery from drug use
  • Willing to nominate a loved one (e.g., partner, family member, close friend) to join the study
  • Have experienced drug cravings within the past 2 years
  • Have access to a smartphone, tablet, or computer

If you are eligible and choose to participate:

  1. Complete a phone screening with the research team.
  2. Nominate a loved one who would be interested in participating and receiving access to the digital support program.
  3. Complete an initial virtual interview lasting approximately 60 minutes.
  4. Continue your usual treatment while your nominated loved one receives access to the digital program designed to support and empower recovery.
  5. Complete a follow-up virtual interview approximately 3 months later, lasting about 60 minutes.

 

All study activities are completed remotely.

Participants can receive up to $100 in digital gift cards for completing both study interviews. All study visits are conducted virtually, so no travel is required.
