Alcohol Use
Research Study
Alcohol use is common among young adults and can affect health, safety, and daily life. Researchers know that drinking patterns can vary from day to day, but more information is needed about how alcohol use behaviors develop and occur in real-world settings. This study will examine alcohol use behaviors in young adults by collecting survey data and information from wearable devices, with the goal of improving our understanding of drinking patterns and related health behaviors.

Overall Duration
This study lasts about 2 weeks. Participants will complete one in-person baseline visit, 14 days of remote data collection, and one in-person follow-up visit.
In-Person Study Visits
Participants will attend two in-person visits at the study site in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Baseline Visit (about 60 minutes):
- Learn how to use the study devices
- Complete a survey about alcohol use and related behaviors
- Receive a wrist-worn alcohol sensor and an Oura Ring to wear during the study
Follow-Up Visit (about 30 minutes):
- Return the study devices
- Complete any final study procedures
At-Home Activities
For 14 days, participants will:
- Wear a wrist-worn alcohol sensor and an Oura Ring throughout the study period
- Complete two brief surveys each day (about 3–7 minutes each)
- Complete short surveys while drinking alcohol (about 1 minute each)
The study devices and surveys help researchers learn more about alcohol use behaviors in everyday life.
Participants may receive up to $196 for completing all study activities. In addition to compensation, participants will contribute to research that aims to improve understanding of alcohol use behaviors in young adults. Participants may also gain personal insights into their own health and behavioral patterns through the use of study surveys and wearable technology. Transportation support or reimbursement is not available for this study.
