This study is being conducted to better understand how mobile apps can support young adults who are interested in quitting vaping and to explore ways to improve digital tools for vaping cessation.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

• Use of vaping products in the last 30 days
• Android Smartphone
• Interest in quitting vaping
• US Resident
• English-speaking
• Young adult

The study lasts about 2 months, and all activities take place online. Participants will first complete a phone screening to determine if they are eligible for the study.

If eligible, participants will complete three online surveys: one after 3 weeks, and one after 6 weeks. The surveys will ask about vaping habits and attitudes, other substance use, and mental health symptoms.

Some participants may be assigned to use the VapeFree mobile app for 6 weeks. Participants asked to use the app will be encouraged to engage with it during the study and may be asked to provide feedback about their experience in an interview over the phone or on Zoom. The information collected will help researchers understand how useful and acceptable the app is for supporting people who want to reduce or quit vaping.

All study activities are completed remotely using an Android smartphone or computer. No in-person visits are required.

Participants may receive up to $60 in Amazon e-gift cards for completing study activities. Participants will receive $10 for the first survey, $10 for the 3 week survey, and $20 for the final survey. Participants selected to take part in an interview will receive $20 for completing their interview.
