Researchers are studying whether personalized feedback about a biological marker related to smoking (called the AHHR gene) can increase motivation to quit smoking. The findings may help improve future smoking cessation treatments that use financial incentives.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

• Smoke cigarettes daily
• Ages 18+
• Live in Oklahoma
• Not pregnant
• Do not have heart disease

If you choose to participate and are eligible, you will:

1. Complete an online screening survey.
2. Take part in a 6-month remote research study with 7 total study sessions (one baseline session and 6 monthly follow-up sessions).
3. Complete a brief survey during each study session.
4. Meet with a member of the research team by Zoom for a 20–45 minute video visit.
5. Provide a saliva sample and complete a breath test during each Zoom session.
6. Receive personalized feedback throughout the study related to your smoking levels.

All study visits are completed remotely, so no in-person visits are required.

Participants have the opportunity to earn up to $320 for completing all study sessions. Compensation includes $40 for each of the 7 completed sessions, plus a $40 bonus for completing all 7 sessions.

Participants will also receive nicotine replacement therapy and access to educational resources about smoking cessation. Transportation is not needed because all study visits are conducted remotely via Zoom.
