Additional Information
Researchers want to find out if a new investigational medicine (ABBV-932) can help reduce anxiety symptoms in adults who are still struggling despite taking approved anxiety or depression medications. The goal is to explore whether the study drug could become a new treatment option for people living with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Have Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or think you might — a diagnosis can happen during screening
- Are 18 to 65 years old
- Currently taking anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medication at a stable dose for at least 8 weeks (ex., paroxetine, escitalopram, duloxetine, or venlafaxine ER)
- Still experience ongoing anxiety symptoms despite your current medication
Exclusion Criteria:
- Have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or PTSD
- Have had a substance use disorder in the past 6 months
- Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have had major changes in therapy (medication or counseling) in the past 3 months
- Have certain medical conditions (heart, liver, kidney, thyroid, or seizure disorders)
- Are currently in another clinical trial or using another experimental treatment
Screening
- Complete a short online screening survey, followed by a phone interview to confirm eligibility
Study Participation (In-Person, Creve Coeur, MO)
- Continue your current anxiety or depression medication and add either the study drug (ABBV-932) or a placebo (a pill with no medicine) for 6 weeks
- Study visits are conducted in person at the clinic, over about 12 weeks total
- At each visit: answer questions about your anxiety and overall well-being, have basic health checks (blood pressure, heart rate, weight), provide blood and urine samples for lab testing, have an ECG to check heart health, and meet with the study physician and team to discuss your progress
Yes! Participants will receive $140 for each completed visit, for a total of up to $980 if the entire study is completed per protocol. Transportation to and from the clinic (within 50 miles) is provided free of charge if needed, along with free health evaluations, lab testing, and specialist oversight.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
