Graves’ Disease
Research Study

Researchers at Trialmed are conducting a clinical research study for adults ages 18–65 who have been diagnosed with Graves’ disease and are taking anti-thyroid medication. The study is evaluating a potential treatment designed to target antibodies that overstimulate the thyroid and examining how the body responds to a single dose.

Additional Information

Graves’ disease is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system produces antibodies that cause the thyroid to become overactive. Researchers are studying an investigational medicine designed to block these antibodies and help the body clear them, while evaluating its safety and effects on thyroid hormone levels.

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Ages 18-65
  • Diagnosed with Graves’ disease
  • On a stable anti-thyroid medication dose for at least 3 months
  • Have not had radioactive iodine treatment or thyroid surgery
  • No certain serious eye, heart, immune-system, or infection-related conditions
  • Must be willing and able to stay at the clinic for 3 nights, at least 48 hours after dosing, and attend follow-up visits

If you qualify and choose to participate, you will:

  1. Complete screening: The study team will review your medical history and perform health assessments, including blood tests, thyroid hormone and antibody tests, vital signs, and heart monitoring.

  2. Receive the study medicine: You will receive either one dose of the investigational medicine or a placebo (an inactive substance). Depending on your study group, it will be given through an IV or as an injection under the skin.

  3. Stay at the clinic: You will stay at the clinic for three nights for observation and safety monitoring. All meals will be provided during your stay.

  4. Attend follow-up visits: You will return for outpatient visits over the following several weeks. The study team will monitor your health and collect additional information through assessments and blood tests.

The study team will determine your eligibility based on the study requirements.

Participants may receive $6,500 for taking part in Cohorts 1–3 or $7,500 for Cohorts 4–9. Screening compensation is $250. Compensation depends on the study cohort and participation requirements. All meals are provided during the clinic stay, and participants receive study-related medical exams, blood tests, heart monitoring, and safety assessments at no cost.

The study includes a three-night clinic stay and follow-up visits. Ask the study team about transportation options and any additional participation details.

There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
