Study Background

The aim of this online research study is to evaluate the relation of selected lifestyle, behavioral, and environmental factors to fertility, miscarriage, and selected birth outcomes among couples actively trying to conceive. We recruit female-identified participants (and their partners) aged 21-45 years who are not using any fertility treatments and who are actively trying to conceive.

If eligible, female participants complete a baseline questionnaire to ascertain information about demographics, medical and reproductive history, and lifestyle choices and habits. 10 days after enrollment, participants are invited to complete a dietary questionnaire as well. Participants are invited to complete a follow-up questionnaire every 2 months for up to 12 months, to update their pregnancy status. If a participant conceives, they will then be directed to an early pregnancy questionnaire. During the second trimester, participants are invited to complete a late pregnancy questionnaire, and 6 months post-partum, are invited to complete a post-partum questionnaire.

Participants complete all questionnaires online on a secure website. Incentives for joining include:

  • Free home pregnancy tests (US only)
  • Free premium subscription to Kindara.com (fertility-tracking app)
  • ≥$60 for providing biospecimens (US only)
  • Fitbit (if selected to participate in sleep substudy) (US only)
  • Nutrient summary report for completing the dietary questionnaire
  • Several other lotteries
