Study Background

The University of Texas Houston is seeking adults with current symptoms of PTSD to participate in their research study about avoidance behaviors, emotional learning and memory. 

Participants will complete 3 study visits (2 hours each visit): 1 eligibility assessment, 2 fMRI sessions.

Compensation: up to $230 if complete all study procedures.

Additional Information

The purpose of this research study is to understand how we learn to fear, and learn not to fear, certain stimuli.

You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Ages 18+
  • Current symptoms of PTSD
  • No history of seizures, head injury, or neurological disorders (e.g., tics, tremors, migraine headaches)

Once enrolled, this study involves:

  • Completing an eligibility assessment (approximately 2 hours)
  • Undergoing two fMRI scans (approximately 2 hours each, on two consecutive days)

Compensation: up to $230 if all study procedures are completed.
