Healing Opioid misuse and Pain through Engagement (HOPE) Study
Researchers at the University of New Mexico are partnering with individuals who are prescribed buprenorphine to look at the benefits of a treatment for opioid use and chronic pain.
Research Study Key Details
Prescribed Buprenorphine for Opioid Use
Experience Chronic Pain
Compensation Provided
Conducted Remotely in New Mexico and Michigan
Study Background
We’re seeking ways to manage pain for people who have chronic pain and opioid use disorder.
This is a research study on a treatment called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy plus Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (ACT+MBRP). The goal is to see if this treatment effectively reduces pain interference – meaning how much your pain negatively affects your life – in people who have chronic pain and are prescribed buprenorphine for opioid use.
Eventually, the findings of this study might be useful for dealing with chronic pain and improving people’s quality of life.
